Visiting Professor at the Center for Australian Studies

From November 22 to 30, 2017, the Center for Australian Studies hosted a visit from Prof. Greg McNamara, director of Geoscience Education and Outreach Services in Australia.

During his visit, Prof. McNamara led two events organized in collaboration with UNESCO and the Ministry of Industry, Energy, and Mining (MIEM).

The first event was the keynote lecture “Earth Sciences and Their Relevance to Society,” held on November 28, 2017, at the Pocitos campus. Néstor Campal, MIEM’s National Director of Mining and Geology, also spoke at the event.

The second activity was an open discussion titled “Experiences and Teaching Tools for Earth Science Education in Australia and Uruguay,” held on November 29, 2017, at the National Directorate of Mining and Geology (DINAMIGE). This event was organized in collaboration with the National Directorate of Mining and Geology of the MIEM.
