Welcome to the Class of 2018 of the MBA program

On April 12, 2018, theFaculty of Business and Social Sciences hosted a welcome ceremony for the new class of students in theMaster of Business Administration (MBA) program at Universidad ORT Uruguay.

María Paulós, MBA, the program’s associate academic coordinator, welcomed the students and congratulated them on being accepted into the graduate program following a rigorous application process.

Next, the dean of the School of Management and Social Sciences, Dr. Gaston J. Labadie, spoke about the values that define the experience at the Graduate School, such as commitment, an entrepreneurial spirit, hard work, excellence, and integrity.

Two students from the Class of 2017—Manuel Domenech, a consultant at IDB Invest, and Joanna Peluffo, a specialist in Global Programs at Uruguay XXI—encouraged the new generation to take advantage of the academic environment to experiment, benefit from peer learning, and participate in international academic activities. They also urged them to embrace, from the very beginning, the responsibility that comes with their education toward society.

For his part, the MBA’s academic coordinator, Dr. Luis Silva Domingo, emphasized the Graduate School’s commitment to lifelong learning and to the process of personal and professional transformation that participants will undergo.

Finally, Professor Yamandú Bermúdez, together with Professor José Gordin, launched the Communication and Negotiation Workshop, which took place on April 15, 16, and 17, 2018, at the Nirvana Hotel. He discussed the learning outcomes to which the School has been committed since the design and development of the MBA program.

The welcome event concluded with a toast that served as an opportunity for networking among the classes of 2017 and 2018, the faculty, and the MBA Academic and Course Coordination team.
