Workshops at ORT for International Day of Girls in ICT

The celebration of this day took place on Thursday, April 25, at ORT’s Centro and Pocitos campuses, featuring a variety of workshops for high school students. This marks the first time that activities have been organized in conjunction with the School of Business and Social Sciences and the School of Architecture.

Biotechnology Workshop

This talk covered the basic concepts of biotechnology and explained how microorganisms can be used to produce the products we use in our daily lives. This was followed by a group discussion on a commercial product and a hands-on activity to identify microorganisms. The activity covered introductory concepts in food technology, microbiology, and molecular biology, and demonstrated how biotechnology draws on these fields to find solutions to everyday problems.

Arduino Workshop

In this workshop, the young women learned how to work with Arduino boards, which are very versatile, easy to program, and make it simple to use hardware.

Creative Programming

This activity invited participants to discover how to combine images with programming to create unique works of art. The students were able to experiment with programming tools to generate images using code, create animations, and produce interactive works of art.

Gaining Likes on Social Media

The workshop focused on how we can tailor our use of social media to our preferences, how to maximize the number of likes, reach a specific audience, or achieve certain results. Creativity is the key to achieving these goals.

BotBuilders: An Introduction to Building Bots for Digital Businesses

This workshop explored the world of bots and artificial intelligence, and taught participants how these technologies can transform digital businesses. Through a combination of theory and hands-on practice , they were able to create a simple bot and discover its potential for automating customer service and collecting data.

Designing prefabricated homes using 3D technology

This workshop explored and put into practice creative ideas for designing homes using prefabricated modules. It delved into various technologies that will improve the way we design, including analysis and visualization using 3D modeling and virtual reality tools.
