From the Earth – Ignacio Bone
The project aims to document the production of lettuce, from its origins in the field to its arrival at the end consumer. To this end, the author contacted a family that granted him access to their farm in Melilla. There, alongside brothers Andrés and Marcelo, he was able to witness firsthand the agricultural work carried out under difficult conditions, marked by drought and physical exertion.
Work on the farm is hard and begins before dawn, with young people helping with the harvest. The lettuce is sorted and loaded for transport to the market, where it will eventually be sold to consumers.
Architecture – Lucía De Croock
Architectural photography focuses on capturing images of buildings and structures, both their exterior and interior designs, highlighting their form, functionality, and aesthetics. This type of photography focuses on selecting angles and compositions that highlight the lines, symmetries, and proportions of the structures, as well as using lighting effectively to create different atmospheres. It also pays attention to the details and textures of the materials, and to the context in which the building is situated, to show how it integrates with its surroundings.
In Montevideo, architectural photography captures the fusion of the old and the new, highlighting the urban development of the city. From the Old City to Carrasco Airport, the students capture iconic buildings such as the Palacio Salvo and the domes in the city center, showcasing the coexistence of different architectural styles.
Capturing the various facets of Montevideo’s architecture is a process that goes beyond simply taking a photo; it is an effort to document and celebrate the city’s architectural evolution.
Details That Speak Volumes – María Russo
The "Detalles que Hablan" project focuses on architectural elements that reflect Uruguay's culture and history, exploring how these details contribute to the identity of buildings.
This photographic project is a visual record of Montevideo’s urban history, showcasing the city’s cultural richness through images that blend technique, history, and art.
This photo essay aims to capture the essence of architectural details and tell a story through images.
Photography thus becomes a powerful tool for exploring and telling these stories hidden within the walls and corners of urban buildings in Uruguay.
These works not only document reality but also interpret it, ensuring that a society’s culture and legacy remain alive in the collective memory. On World Photography Day, we celebrate photography’s power to connect the past with the present and to ensure that future generations understand and value their heritage.
