In this edition, the theoretical-practical workshop—designed for young people aged 17 to 29—will consist of four sessions: three virtual and one in-person. The virtual sessions will take place on April 25 and 27, and May 2, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The in-person session will include a workshop and a networking session and will take place on May 4 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The workshop is free of charge with prior registration, and space is limited.

It is designed to equip young people with tools they can apply immediately in both their individual and collective actions.

The various sessions will explore global environmental challenges and the carbon footprint as an environmental indicator. They will examine the life cycle as a tool for traceability and the importance of indicators for sustainable business.

Due to its geographical location, Uruguay is a country that is highly vulnerable to climate change. Over the past 60 years, it has experienced a temperature rise of nearly one degree, and the consequences are becoming increasingly evident in the form of flooding, heavy rainfall, and extreme heat. In this context, Mi Huella was launched with the goal of raising awareness about the role everyone plays as agents of change.

This initiative is being carried out by the Biotechnology Research and Innovation Center (CBI+I), the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Universidad ORT Uruguay DESEM Junior Achievement, with support from ANDE for activities promoting circular initiatives under the Circular Opportunities Program.

The instructors leading the workshop will be:

  • Inés Tiscornia, M.A.: Assistant Coordinator of Environmental Management at Universidad ORT Uruguay. Professor in the biotechnology programs at ORT. Founding partner of Biopack, a startup producing compostable bags that aims to raise environmental awareness among consumers.
  • Dr. Silvia Acuña: Technical Consultant in the Ozone Division of the National Directorate for Climate Change at the Ministry of the Environment. Professor at the ORT School of Engineering.
  • Deborah Szwedzki, Q.F., MBA: Project Manager. Consultant for CBI+I and ORT’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Mentor to entrepreneurs and instructor for entrepreneurship workshops. Consultant in innovation project management and technology transfer.
