Conference: “Transforming the U.S. Electricity Industry”

On November 3, 2015, the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences hosted a lecture titled “Transforming the U.S. Electric Power Industry,” presented by Dr. Robert J. Grey, executive vice president, general counsel, and secretary of PPL Corporation. The speaker reflected on the main characteristics of the U.S. electric power industry and the role that PPL Corporation is playing in the evolution toward a more regulated, diversified, efficient, and measurable utility market.

The conference focused on how one of the United States’ leading utility companies is supporting and driving the transformation of the country’s electricity industry. In particular, the speaker addressed the major changes in electricity generation and distribution, as well as future trends for the industry and the companies operating within it.

Grey holds a Doctor of Laws degree from Emory University in the United States. He also holds a Master of Laws in Taxation from George Washington University. He served as general counsel for Long Island Lighting Co. and as a partner at Preston Gates & Ellis in Seattle.

He previously worked as an attorney for the New York Public Service Commission and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. He is a member of the American Bar Association, serving on the Council Group of the Public Utility, Communications, and Transportation Law Section. He is a member of the board of directors of the Jewish Federation of the Lehigh Valley.
