Since 1982, ORT has been producing a thematic calendar for Rosh Hashanah, typically commemorating notable figures, exceptional events, and anniversaries.
This year, the " Jewish Diary " is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Uruguayan artist José Gurvich.

Message from Dr. Jorge Grünberg, rector of the " Universidad ORT Uruguay"
In his speech, rector . referred to the legacy of Prof. Charlotte de Grünberg, the 30th anniversary of the Universidad ORT Uruguay, the institution’s growth, and new infrastructure projects. He also highlighted the challenges the university has faced throughout its history and reflected on the impact of artificial intelligence on education.

Remarks by Martín Kalenberg, Coordinator of Jewish Studies at ORT
The term “Shana” provides the framework for other words in modern Hebrew derived from the same root, such as “leshanot” and “leshanen.” The best known of these is “leshanot,” meaning “to change.” Therefore, the New Year is an auspicious time to implement changes in our lives. Now, “leshanen” means “to repeat” (for example, when teaching, repeating something to a child until they understand it).
The lesson here, I believe, is both simple and profound: that our reflection on what we did last year should not only focus on the negative and demand that we change for change’s sake, but should also lead us to appreciate what we’ve done well so that we can continue on that path.
