Department of Jewish Studies

Mission

The Department of Jewish Studies is primarily dedicated to analyzing, raising awareness about, and promoting issues of interest that arise and affect the Jewish world at the national and global levels, including Jewish history and culture, antisemitism, the Shoah, and Israel, among others.

To achieve this goal, Universidad ORT Uruguay produces seminars, conferences, books, annual thematic calendars, and documentaries.

Anannual Jewish thematic calendar provides an analysis of specific figures, institutions, or events in the Jewish world.

A seminar organized by Universidad ORT Uruguay, recognized by the Minister of Education and Culture, is held annually for secondary school teachers in the public school system on the topic of the Holocaust.

Through our educational programs, we collaborate with all local Jewish institutions and participate annually in a series of lectures as part of the Punta del Este Jewish Film Festival, held nationwide every February.

All of the department's materials are free to use and freely accessible through our website.
