Documentary: Menazka (The Saucepan)

This 2016 documentary features the testimony of Isaac Borojovich, a survivor living in Uruguay who was held in several Nazi concentration camps between 1941 and 1945, the last of which was Bergen-Belsen. The documentary chronicles Isaac’s return to this camp after being invited by the German government to the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of its liberation, accompanied by Camino, a Spanish high school student studying the Holocaust.

The documentary, co-produced by Ramon Llull University and Universidad ORT Uruguay the award for Best Documentary Film at the 13th Punta del Este Jewish Film Festival.

Giza, the Girl in the Suitcase

A 2014 documentary written and directed by Dr. David Serrano Blanquer, Full Professor at the Blanquerna School of Communication at Ramon Llull University in Barcelona, and Founder and Director of CILEC (Center for Research on European Concentration Camp Literature). It was co-produced by the Blanquerna School of Communication at Ramon Llull University in Barcelona and Universidad ORT Uruguay.

The following students and graduates from the School of Communication and Design contributed to the documentary: Martín Viarengo, a graduate of the Bachelor’s program in Audiovisual Communication, as director of photography; Gino Maiuri and Santiago Monteverdi, graduates of the Technical Program in Sound Design, as field sound engineers; and Santiago Albano, a student in the Bachelor’s program in Audiovisual Communication, as a digi-loader.

 

Short Film : Jaime Kleist. The Enchanted Artist

"Jaime Kleist: The Enchanted Artist" is a seven-minute documentary released in 2011 that pays tribute to this artist, whose work offers insight into life in the Jewish villages of Eastern Europe (known as "shtetls" in the vernacular), which disappeared following World War II and the Shoah (the Jewish Holocaust). The short film was based on an idea by Prof. Charlotte S. de Grunberg, Director General of Universidad ORT Uruguay, and directed by Sebastián Mayayo, a student in the Bachelor’s program in Audiovisual Communication, and Ramiro Ozer Ami, a graduate in Graphic Design and instructor of the Integrative Project course in the School of Communication and Design.

Documentary: Despite Treblinka

The documentary, directed by Gerardo Stawsky and produced by Universidad ORT Uruguay 2002, chronicles the lives of three survivors of the Treblinka extermination camp (Poland), who took part in the heroic uprising and escape from the camp—an event that has come to symbolize human resistance against Nazi barbarism.
