July 6, 2009
On July 28, the Pocitos Auditorium hosted a lecture titled "The Success of Latin Music in Israel: Broadcasting in a Foreign Language," presented by Quique Samuel, host of the Israeli radio shows "Sueño en Español" and "Amor Latino," which rank among the country's top-rated programs.

Born in Uruguay, Samuel emigrated to Israel with his family in 1983. In 1997, he graduated with a degree in Communications and Journalism from Tel Aviv University, and two years later he began working at Radio 100 FM in that city. Since then, he has hosted the programs "Sueño en Español" and "Amor Latino," featuring Latin music from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Both shows are interactive with listeners, who communicate in Spanish and Hebrew, and rank among the top-rated programs. From 2002 to 2005, he hosted a children’s television program about Latin music and culture.

He is the organizer of the Annual Salsa Festival in the resort town of Eilat. He has been invited as a DJ to participate in Latin music festivals and private parties in Spain, the United States, France, Turkey, Greece, Cyprus, Mexico, Panama, and Uruguay. Since 2000, he has run his own event entertainment company, which employs more than 20 people and four other DJs.
