Dr. Grey paid a brief visit to the Schools of Engineering, Communication, and Design, as well as the library on the Downtown Campus. He attended a presentation on the Camino TICs program given by Enrique Topolansky, coordinator of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE), and Dr. Plinio Gañi, a programming instructor in the School of Engineering.
He also attended the presentation “Uruguay in the Latin American Context” by Prof. Javier Bonilla, professor of Political and Social Sciences and academic coordinator of International Studies.
For his part, Roberto Cyjon, former president of the Central Jewish Committee of Uruguay, gave a brief presentation on the Jewish community in Uruguay. After lunch with the director general and the rector, Dr. Jorge Grünberg, Dr. Grey visited the Pocitos Campus, where he toured the Schools of Business and Social Sciences, Architecture, and the library.
Architect Gastón Boero, dean of the School of Architecture, and Architect Eliseo Cabrera, coordinator of La Casa Uruguaya, presented the La Casa Uruguaya project, which was selected to participate in the first international Solar Decathlon Latin America 2015 competition in Cali, Colombia.
At the end of his visit, Dr. Grey gave a lecture titled “Transforming the U.S. electricity industry” at the School of Management and Social Sciences.
