Awards for Excellence in Teaching

Each school awards at least one Teaching Excellence Award annually. This award recognizes the quality of instruction provided by faculty members who regularly teach courses, as well as the learning achievements of their students. The recipients embody the values, practices, and dedication to teaching that the university recognizes as the standards every faculty member in our academic community should strive to meet.

The criteria taken into account include final surveys, course reports generated by the instructor, and reports from the department and the respective coordinators, covering a period of at least one year, and preferably the most recent two-year period.

The relevant dimensions for evaluating quality are as follows: instructional planning and mastery of the subject matter; creation of a learning-friendly environment that caters to students’ different learning styles; and teaching with responsibility, commitment, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

The various faculties award this prize according to the school or department, or according to the level of the programs, for example, technical, undergraduate, or graduate levels. Additionally, some faculties grant other awards.
