Student exchanges

Cost

Exchange agreements do not cover travel or living expenses abroad, so each student must cover the cost of travel, accommodation, meals, and other personal expenses during their stay.

This includes, among other things, health insurance, a visa, study materials, etc.

Foreign universities can provide information on estimated living costs, but it’s always a good idea to be prepared for unexpected expenses.

Some universities charge additional fees for the use of laboratories, gyms, language courses, the library, or health insurance. These expenses are not covered by the agreements. There are also some universities that charge tuition fees.

Exchange rate

To apply for the program, you must pay an exchange fee that covers the semester abroad as well as subsequent course equivalencies. During the exchange semester, you will be exempt from tuition payments to Universidad ORT Uruguay.

The exchange fee is paid just like any other university course, after you register through the Student Self-Service portal. Before you register, you must obtain official authorization from your Academic Advisor to participate in the program.

After registering in Gestión (the student self-service system), you will have the usual payment period to pay the tuition fee at Abitab locations, via bank transfer, or at the university’s Student Services Office (SAE).

The exchange fee is updated every semester and can only be refunded if you withdraw your application before the application deadline (December 15 for students participating in the exchange during the second semester and July 31 for those participating during the first semester). Once the application deadline has passed, the exchange fee can only be refunded if the foreign university rejects your nomination or for duly justified and documented reasons of force majeure.

In all cases, the fee will be credited to your personal account and cannot be refunded in cash.

Scholarships

There are very few scholarships available programmes . All scholarship opportunities are communicated to students through the course coordination office and can be found on this website or on the International Office’s Facebook page.
