2018 Multimedia Exhibition

November 26, 2018

Exhibitions and student work

- Migration: Cultural Expansion

This multidisciplinary project was carried out as part of the courses "Digital Art Workshop 1"—taught by professors Jorge Galaviz and María Eugenia Pérez Burger—and "Introduction to Journalism"—taught by professor Daniel Mazzone.

During the exhibition, visitors will be able to view works that invite reflection on the cultural significance and implications of migration in Uruguay.

- Pedagomedia

Multimedia Design students (course: Digital Art Workshop II) collaborated with the José Pedro Varela Educational Museum, and the result was on display at the Pedagomedia exhibition: an artistic intervention utilizing cutting-edge technology applied to the field of education.

The interactive installation *Vitreaux Varela* will be featured in this multimedia exhibition. It is a group project (created by students Romina Melián, Sofía Peralta, and Sabina Correa) whose aim was to explore the significance of José Pedro Varela and his contribution to education in Uruguay.

- Smart products

Students in the Multimedia Design 1 course, taught by Professor Sebastián Otte, are showcasing their work as they explore the use of Arduino circuits and the creation of objects in which human-computer interaction is the key to the product’s success.

- Internet of Things

After discussing social issues presented in class by instructors Alejandro Erramún and Alejandro Trinidad, students in Multimedia Design 2 and Industrial Design 5 worked on creating products controlled by mobile devices (Wi-Fi/Bluetooth) to address issues such as human relationships and environmental stewardship.

Tribute

To Professor María Laura Fernández

An interactive installation was displayed in a space dedicated to the respectful and affectionate memory of Professor María Laura Fernández. Part of this installation will be the collaborative creation of mobiles made from origami figures—a technique that, as those who knew her are aware, she enjoyed and shared with others.

Conference

“Introduction to Virtual Reality and Intuitive User Interfaces”

Technology is becoming increasingly intuitive. The mouse, touchscreens, and now virtual reality. We’re starting to interact with computers the same way we interact with our surroundings. How does technology manage to make us feel like we’re somewhere else? What hardware is available today, and what’s coming in the future?

A talk by Professor Joaquín Guelfi.
