ORT Bordó finished the season as runner-up after a best-of-three final series against Old Christians. The decisive game was played on Friday, December 12, at Club San Telmo Rápido Sport’s home court, and the opponent’s five-point victory (79–74) secured the title for them.
The competition brings together teams made up of students and alumni from various educational institutions, and ORT Bordó’s second-place finish reflects the team’s consistency and sustained performance throughout the annual tournament.
The Final
The decisive series reached its third and final game with the series tied at 1-1, which only added to the stakes of the match.
Throughout the game, the score remained close, with the lead changing hands frequently and the margin of victory remaining narrow. The ORT Bordó team fought until the very end in an effort to turn the game around, playing an intense and emotionally charged match, cheered on by a large and enthusiastic crowd.
Despite the efforts of the team and coaching staff, the final stretch went in Old Christians’ favor, as they secured the victory by a five-point margin (79–74). ORT’s runner-up finish reflects the consistency they demonstrated throughout the 2025 Division B season.
A tournament with a large turnout
This season, the LUD Basketball Division B brought together teams from clubs, schools, and universities in Montevideo and other parts of the country. In addition to ORT Bordó and ORT Blanco, the following teams participated: Club Champagnat Rugby, Old Christians Club, Colegio y Liceo Inglés, Club Náutico, Reducto Universitario, Old Boys Club, Instituto Elbio Fernández, Universidad de Montevideo, Bella Unión Universitario, and Escuela Naval.
ORT's participation in the competition underscores the continuity of the institution's men's basketball program, which has been competing in local and collegiate tournaments organized by the LUD and other organizations for more than two decades.
College Sports on ORT
Participation in the University Sports League is part of the program offered by the Department of Sports Activities at Universidad ORT Uruguay, which aims to promote regular participation in sports, teamwork, and camaraderie among students and graduates from different academic programs.
This victory by ORT Bordó adds to the basketball team’s record of achievements and reinforces the role of sports as an integral part of the well-rounded college experience offered by the institution.
