On December 9, 2019, the OSU organized the30th edition of the Jerusalem Award, which this year was presented to the Archbishop of Montevideo, Cardinal Daniel Sturla. Special mentions were awarded to Prof. Eduardo Tornaría, former director of the Escuela Integral; Dr. Eduardo Kohn, executive director for Latin America at B'nai B'rith; and Prof. Charlotte de Grünberg, general director of Universidad ORT Uruguay.

The Jerusalem Prize is awarded annually to prominent figures in our country who support the cause of the Jewish people. The aim is to recognize individuals who have worked tirelessly to ensure the full realization of human rights and peaceful coexistence among peoples.

Upon receiving the special mention, Prof. Charlotte de Grünberg spoke about the central role that education has always played in Jewish society. In particular, she referred to the founding of ORT in 1880 in St. Petersburg, in Tsarist Russia, with the aim of helping Jewish communities through vocational education.
