Both programs address complex aspects of tax law and develop advanced professional skills in the practical application of knowledge regarding international taxation.
Objectives of the graduate programs
The Master's in International Taxation addresses complex aspects of tax law. It aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the Uruguayan tax system, while developing advanced professional skills in the practical application of knowledge regarding international taxation.
For its part, the Specialization Diploma in International Taxation aims to train expert advisors in international taxation.
Both graduate programs provide a valuable avenue for acquiring the knowledge that forms the core of tax management and its effective administration within a company, while also enabling participants to specialize and stay current in the most specific aspects of functional management in their respective fields.
Dr. Nicolás Gambetta, academic coordinator of the graduate programs in Accounting and Taxation at ORT’s School of Management and Social Sciences, states that “the need for and relevance of a graduate program in taxation with a focus on international taxation stem from the growing demand for professionals in the tax field who possess a global perspective, with a high level of conceptual thinking, and who master best practices and regional and international approaches.”
In addition, Dr. Gambetta notes that “Given the complexity of the international landscape, the demand for comprehensive tax advisors in these areas will continue to grow in the near future. Despite this growing demand for training in international taxation, there are no graduate programs in Uruguay designed to develop such professionals—who are precisely what Uruguayan companies need to grow and contribute to the country’s economic development.”
