The Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at Universidad ORT Uruguay reaccredited by AMBA, one of the three most important accrediting bodies in the world, thus remaining among the top 6% of graduate programs that achieve this type of certification.
Both the on-campus MBA and the EMBA (part-time Executive MBA) were included in this accreditation. The accreditation was granted for a period of five years, the maximum term offered by AMBA.
The Accreditation Committee that evaluated the MBA program highlighted the following, among other aspects:
- The impact that the Graduate School of Business is having on the transformation of Uruguay's business community.
- The quality of the faculty.
- Commitment and leadership in the formation of the Spring Network.
- An experiential and hands-on learning approach through, for example, the Business Plan.
- The design of the new curriculum, which allows for the customization of content through elective courses.
- Workshops in which participants develop skills such as negotiation, teamwork, and leadership.
- The new school building will offer world-class facilities.
ORT's MBA program was accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA) for the first time in 2013 and has maintained this status in subsequent evaluations conducted by the organization.
During the reaccreditation process, a committee of experts appointed by AMBA reviewed more than a hundred aspects of the program and the business school. These included academic criteria such as faculty qualifications, teaching standards, curriculum content, student admission policies, student diversity, and learning outcomes. Other aspects examined included the institution’s history and development, its facilities, and its library.
The Accreditation Committee that evaluated ORT’s MBA and EMBA programs consisted of Philip McLaughlin, former dean and executive director of KEDGE Business School (France), Paolo Taticchi, Deputy Director of the MBA and International Programs at UCL School of Management, University College London (United Kingdom), Enrique Ramírez, Dean of the Faculty of Administrative and Economic Sciences at ICESI University (Colombia), and Carlos Ramos, International Advisor at AMBA & BGA (Argentina).
AMBA, founded in 1967 in the United Kingdom by graduates of Harvard Business School, Wharton Business School, Stanford University, and Columbia University, is dedicated to accrediting MBA programs with the aim of distinguishing the best programs and business schools. It is currently composed of distinguished academics and has by the world’s leading business schools.
