Through periodic evaluations, the National System of Researchers (SNI) promotes the recognition and financial support of professionals engaged in research, fostering the generation of knowledge in various fields and strengthening the scientific community nationwide.
Researchers are classified into four levels, ranging from entry level to Level III, with the latter being the highest in the system.
The SNI is based on the principle of peer review, whereby researchers themselves evaluate and decide whether a colleague should remain in the system or whether their level should be adjusted.
When a researcher begins their career in research, they apply to the National System of Researchers and outline their academic background, completed projects, and other relevant qualifications. Generally, researchers are admitted at the entry level for an initial period of three years, renewable once for an additional three years.
Under ORT’s internal regulations, its researchers must periodically undergo the SNI evaluation—an external assessment conducted by the National Scientific Institute—whether to enter the system, renew their position, or be promoted to a higher level. The evaluation process is rigorous and can take several months.
The SNI is organized into six categories, which encompass various disciplines: Agricultural Sciences, Medical and Health Sciences, Natural and Exact Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities, and Engineering and Technology.
Several faculty members from the School of Management and Social Sciences at Universidad ORT Uruguay part of the National System of Researchers in the field of social sciences.
In 2023, the following faculty members joined the university at the entry level for a three-year term: Santiago Acerenza—professor in the Bachelor’s Program in Economics—, Gonzalo Croci—professor in the Bachelor’s Program in International Studies—, Martín Pereyra—professor in the Bachelor’s Program in Economics—, and Florencia Amorelli—thesis advisor for the Master’s Program in Accounting and Finance—.
Flavia Roldán—deputy academic coordinator of the Bachelor’s Degree in Economics—who was already a member of the SNI, renewed her Level I certification for three years.
Diego Aboal, Gonzalo Croci, Nicolás Gambetta, Nestor Gandelman, Rodrigo Lluberas, Sebastián Moreno, Martín Pereyra, Juan Francisco Rosas, Marcos Segantini, and Diego Telias are the remaining faculty members of the School of Business and Social Sciences who are part of the SNI.
