
The women's handball team from Universidad ORT Uruguay reached the final of the Bronze Cup of the Major League A, organized by the Association of Handball Clubs (ACB), a nationwide Uruguayan handball league.
In the decisive game, the team lost to Rowing 23–16, a result that secured second place for ORT, according to records from the ACB and the university’s athletics department.
Competition in Major League A
Teams from various clubs and organizations participated in this edition of the Handball Clubs Association (ACB) tournament, including CHP, Rampla C.S., ISASA U., Requeche, Seminario, Rowing, Las Leonas, Familiar 1937, Francés, and Universidad ORT Uruguay.
Thus, the team secured second place in the Bronze Cup amid a wide-ranging and diverse field of competition, featuring established rivals in Uruguayan amateur women’s handball.
The ORT women's team's achievement adds to the team's competitive record—it regularly participates in local tournaments and leagues organized by the ACB—and helps establish Universidad ORT Uruguay the country's college and amateur sports ecosystem.
Finishing as runners-up in the Bronze Cup also reinforces the university’s Sports Department’s approach, which is focused on promoting competitive sports in various disciplines as part of the students’ well-rounded education.
