“Let’s celebrate because this chapter has come to an end and we’re one step closer to making our dreams come true”

Third Annual College Graduation Ceremony.

The ongoing support provided by the university, the importance of pushing oneself to new heights, and the significance of making a positive impact on the community were among the central themes of the third Annual Commencement Ceremony at Universidad ORT Uruguay.

This event took place on Monday, November 21, 2022, at the Sodre Dra. Adela Reta National Auditorium and was also streamed online

Graduates from the School of Business and Social Sciences, the School of Architecture, the School of Communication and Design, and the School of Engineering participated.

Focusing on the future

“We are proud of our history, but our focus is on the future. We don’t know what that future will look like, but whatever it may be, we are committed to continuing to provide the best possible education to the people of Uruguay,” said Dr. Jorge Grünberg, rector Universidad ORT Uruguay.

Graduation isn't the end of your learning journey. It's just the end of the beginning. Always set ambitious goals, choose challenges that push you to your limits, and surround yourselves with friends and colleagues who aren't afraid to speak their minds. Outperforming others isn't what matters. The real challenge is to outdo yourselves.

“Don’t assume that those who think differently are always wrong or ignorant; the search for truth is a symphony. A country like ours needs everyone’s contribution.”

Ongoing support

“I want to thank the university as a whole for the opportunities it has provided us, for its guidance, for its ongoing support, for trusting us and investing in our future—whether by allowing us to study at universities around the world through exchange programs or by offering us job opportunities,” said Débora Bertani, a graduate of the Bachelor’s program in International Studies.

"In particular, I would like to thank all the teachers who have supported us and served as role models."

Betani added: “I look at my classmates and think about how different we are today from who we were when we first met that first year. Today, some of us are pursuing graduate degrees or working in different fields, but I think that all of us are still pursuing those ideas and dreams we had when we started our careers. Let’s celebrate because this chapter has come to an end and we’re one step closer to fulfilling our dreams.”

Have an impact on the environment

Mariana Parise—a graduate of the Bachelor of Communication program—explained why she chose to pursue that degree.

“I choose communication because of its human nature, its sensitivity, and its creativity—because I firmly believe in its power to transform. What we do and don’t do, what we say and don’t say, has an impact on the world around us. So, each of us, from our own unique position, has the power to bring about significant change.”

Building Together

“As engineers, we want to devote ourselves to creating the world that does not yet exist,” said Martín Ganón, a graduate in Systems Engineering.

“This generation wants to go out into the world to practice engineering, to dream, to discover, and, ultimately, to build together with the entire community and move forward,” he added.

The excitement of graduating

Eduardo Faral—a graduate of the architecture program—said that he always knew he wanted to be an architect, even though no one else in his family was in that profession.

Thinking about that little boy exploring his creativity through play and seeing him here today fills me with emotion.

“Without a doubt, we faced some difficult times during the pandemic, and we had to adapt quickly,” he concluded. “Finally, the day of our graduation has arrived.”
