The Department of Jewish Studies at Universidad ORT Uruguay a book presentation Chinese and Jews: Bridges and Encounters Between Two Millennia-Old Civilizations, by Gustavo Perednik, presented by Diego Fischer and attended by the author. The event will take place on July 2, 2019, at 7:30 p.m. in the university’s Pocitos Auditorium (2633 España Blvd.).
Gustavo Perednik is a graduate of the University of Buenos Aires and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (cum laude), and completed his Ph.D. in Philosophy in New York. He studied the humanities at the Sorbonne (France), San Marcos (Peru), and Uppsala (Sweden). He was recognized as an outstanding professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He is the author of numerous books and articles. He is a member of the International Advisory Committee of the Sino-Jewish Institute (United States). He founded the Ai Tian Enlightenment Program in China. He is also a visiting professor at Universidad ORT Uruguay.
Diego Fischer is a journalist, screenwriter, theater producer, and writer. He is the producer, director, and screenwriter of the documentaries *Cien años Punta del Este* and *Historias, relatos y sueños: 150 años de la inmigración suiza a Uruguay*. He is currently the director and host of the news program Los notables, which airs on Nuevo Siglo TV and Canal 11 in Punta del Este. He received the Libro de Oro Award from the Uruguayan Book Chamber in 2009, 2014, 2016, and 2018.
