  At just 21 years old, he was selected to participate in the "Botín Scholarship Program for Strengthening the Civil Service in Latin America," which took place from October to December 2010 in the United States and Spain, and whose mission "is to create a network of well-educated young Latin Americans interested in serving their countries." Juan José Riva, a senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies, would be very interested in working for Uruguay because, in his own words: “when a society offers many opportunities, it gives us the need and the desire to give back.”
