
The university signed a memorandum of understanding with the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS) during the Latin American Symposium of the World Forum on Chinese Studies. The event, an initiative of the "Belt and Road" initiative and China-Latin America Cooperation, took place in Buenos Aires on December 3 and 4, 2018.
The agreement aims to strengthen scientific and educational ties between the two institutions. The agreement was signed by ORT’s Vice President for Academic Affairs, Julio Fernández, and by SASS’s President, Zhang Daogen.
Dr. María Azpiroz, the university’s director of International Relations, also participated in the symposium. She served on a panel titled “China-Latin America Cooperation: Opportunities and Challenges,” where she presented on “China-Latin America Academic Cooperation in Higher Education: Opportunities and Challenges.”
The event was organized by the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, the Institute of Latin American Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Think Tank Foundation of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, the Argentine Council for International Relations (CARI), the National University of La Plata, and the ICBC Foundation.
It was sponsored by the Information Office of the State Council of the People's Republic of China and the Shanghai Municipal Government.
The forum is dedicated to reflecting on global challenges and fostering an informed understanding between China and the rest of the world. It provides the global community of China studies scholars with a biannual platform to share their latest research findings and strengthen their academic ties.
