Common European Framework of Reference for Languages

This European standard, which is also used in many other countries, is used to measure a person's level of oral and written comprehension and expression in a language.

Level A - Beginner

Level A1 - Entrance

He or she is able to understand and use very common everyday expressions as well as simple phrases designed to meet immediate needs.

You can introduce yourself and others, and ask for and provide basic personal information about your address, your belongings, and the people you know.

He can communicate at a basic level, provided that the person he is talking to speaks slowly and clearly and is willing to cooperate.

Sublevel A2 - Platform

He or she is able to understand common phrases and expressions related to areas of experience that are particularly relevant to him or her (basic information about himself or herself and his or her family, shopping, places of interest, occupations, etc.).

Can communicate when performing simple, everyday tasks that require nothing more than simple, straightforward exchanges of information on familiar or routine topics.

Can describe aspects of their past and surroundings, as well as matters related to their immediate needs, in simple terms.

 

Level B - Proficient User

Level B1 - Intermediate

He or she is able to understand the main points of clear, standard-language texts on topics that are familiar to him or her, whether in work, study, or leisure contexts.

Can handle most situations that may arise while traveling in areas where the language is spoken.

He or she is able to produce simple, coherent texts on topics that are familiar to him or her or in which he or she has a personal interest.

You can describe experiences, events, wishes, and aspirations, as well as briefly explain your opinions or outline your plans.

Level B2 - Upper-intermediate

He or she is able to understand the main ideas in complex texts on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical ones, provided they fall within his or her field of expertise.

Can interact with native speakers with sufficient fluency and naturalness so that communication flows effortlessly for both parties.

He or she can produce clear, detailed texts on a variety of topics, as well as defend a point of view on general issues, outlining the pros and cons of the various options.

 

Level C - Proficient User

Sublevel C1 - Effective operational proficiency

He or she is able to understand a wide variety of lengthy and somewhat demanding texts, as well as to identify implicit meanings within them.

He or she can express themselves fluently and spontaneously without any obvious signs of struggling to find the right words.

You can use the language flexibly and effectively for social, academic, and professional purposes.

Can produce clear, well-structured, and detailed texts on complex topics, demonstrating a proper use of text organization, articulation, and cohesion.

Level C2 - Master's Degree

He or she can easily understand almost everything he or she hears or reads.

Can synthesize information and arguments from various sources, whether spoken or written, and present them in a coherent and concise manner.

He or she can express themselves spontaneously, with great fluency, and with a degree of precision that allows them to distinguish subtle nuances of meaning even in highly complex situations.
