Language Center

Objectives

The Language Center provides students with the tools they need to master the foreign language communication skills required in today's world.

The language courses taught at the Universidad ORT Uruguay campus Universidad ORT Uruguay mostly offered by external institutions, which provide the instructors and are responsible for collecting the tuition fees for each course.

In this context, the Language Center’s primary objectives are:

  • To raise students' awareness of the importance of knowing a foreign language, encourage them to learn it, and facilitate their learning.

  • To gain a deeper understanding of the culture of the countries whose languages are being studied.

  • Integrate the use of foreign languages into the academic life of each school, ensuring that the ability to use a third language is a hallmark of all graduates.

  • Encourage students to pursue official certifications in foreign languages.

  • Strengthen the university’s international dimension by offering language instruction that facilitates students’ access to university courses abroad, within the framework of the exchange agreements the institution has with prestigious universities around the world.
  • Enter into agreements with local and international foreign language teaching institutions to improve the quality and range of courses offered.

Framework

The Language Center uses the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages for its programs. 

Thus, the various levels offered correspond to the levels of the Framework.
