    On April 25, the final round of the "ROBOTS.uy" robotics competition took place at Club Atlético Bohemios. Organized by the School of Engineering and Microsoft Uruguay, the competition aimed to promote new technologies among young people through participation in a combination of theoretical, practical, and recreational activities.

    On Wednesday, April 2, the lecture "A Practical Guide to University Exchange Programs" was held in the Auditorium of the School of Communication and Design, aimed at students of the school. The presentation was given by Héctor Laca, Coordinator of Institutional Relations at ORT University.

    On April 10, the launch of the 2008 preventive communication campaign by the Alliance for a Drug-Free Uruguay took place in the Auditorium of the School of Communication and Design. The presentation was given by the foundation’s president, José Luis Hernández.

    Brazil’s Ministry of Education recently released the results of the National High School Exam (ENEM), which was taken in August 2007 by 2,700,000 students across the country who were completing their high school education. In the rankings, the ORT Technological School in Rio de Janeiro (RJ) ranks 7th in the RJ region among the 443 schools that took the test. Nationally, ORT Brazil ranks 13th among 15,000 schools and achieved first place nationally among the country’s technical high schools.

    Industrial Designer Andrea Grossy, a professor at the School of Design, represented ORT University as a member of the jury for the "100 Years Working for Life at the Pereira Rossell Hospital Center" logo and isotype contest. Grossy is an industrial designer specializing in branding and logos.

    Prof. Emanuela Cappelli, Professor of Fashion Theory and Trends at the School of Design, delivered a lecture titled "Women, Equal Opportunities, and Associationism in Emigration" as part of the celebrations for "Liberation Day" and the 60th anniversary of the Italian Constitution, held on April 25 at the Italian Consulate in Montevideo.

    On April 16, the Faculty of Communication and Design hosted a lecture titled "Professional Training in Animation" by Leo Hobaica Jr. , Assistant Dean of the School of Film and Video at CalArts (California Institute of the Arts). The visit was part of the educational cooperation program between the U.S. Embassy in Uruguay and our country. The event was organized by the Academic Coordination of Animation at the School of Communication and Design.

    As part of the cooperation agreement with the Autonomous University of Barcelona, the Institute of Education is participating, starting this year, in the project "Creation of a Support Network for the Management of Educational Institutions." On April 7, a meeting was held to define the project’s lines of action, attended by Dr. Joaquín Gairín, Professor of General Basic Education and Chair of the Department of Applied Pedagogy at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), Julio Fernández, Dean of Academic Development; Ana Olmedo, Academic Secretary of the Institute of Education; and María Inés Vázquez, Academic Coordinator of Educational Management at the Institute of Education.

    On Monday, April 14, the official launch of the “Shoah Project: Memory and Legacy of the Holocaust” took place in the Hall of Lost Steps at the Legislative Palace, before an audience of approximately one thousand people. The project has been designated as being of National Interest by the Office of the President of the Republic, of Municipal Interest by the Municipality of Montevideo, and of Educational Interest by the authorities of CODICEN.
