• ORT graduates and their graphic design studio were the top exporters in 2019

  The Ameba studio, founded by ORT graphic design graduates Lucía Martínez and Fabricio D’Agata, along with graphic designer Miguel Vallvé, was recognized by the Union of Exporters of Uruguay for its achievements as a service exporter.

  Sonali Correa, M.Sc., a research teaching assistant at ORT’s Biotechnology Laboratory, earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Basic Sciences Development Program (Pedeciba) at the University of the Republic. Her thesis—written in collaboration with her advisors, Dr. Valeria Grazú and Dr. Lorena Betancor, professor of Protein Technology at ORT—focused on developing a solution capable of destroying tumor cells in humans without affecting healthy cells.

  December 2019 marks the 815th anniversary of the death of the great Sephardic scholar Maimonides. In honor of this remarkable physician and thinker, the Central Israeli Committee of Uruguay published on its website a reproduction of Jaime Cerdá Lorca’s article in the Chilean Journal of Infectious Diseases (2009), titled “Moses Maimonides: Physician to Princes, Prince of Physicians.”
