June 29, 2009On June 9, the seminar "School Organization Proposals to Meet the Demands of the 21st Century" took place at the Centro Auditorium. This event was held as part of the 1st Ibero-American Meeting of the AGE Network and was moderated by Dr. Joaquín Gairín (pictured), the Network’s General Coordinator. During the event, specialists in educational management from Ibero-American countries spoke about the new challenges facing school management.

June 29, 2009Fabián Alvarez, a student in the Bachelor’s program in International Studies, has been one of eight students selected by Uruguay to participate in programme“Global UGRAD programmesponsored by the U.S. government. His selection as a program participant means that from August 28, 2009, to May 15, 2010, he will study at Utica College in New York. The program provides a scholarship that covers all costs (airfare, living expenses, and tuition).

June 29, 2009On June 29, the President of the Private University of Santa Cruz, Bolivia (UPSA), Laura Müller, and the Secretary General of that institution, Roberto Antelo, visited the university. They were welcomed by the Rector, Dr. Jorge Grünberg; the Dean of Academic Development, Julio Fernández; the Deans of the Faculties of Administration and Social Sciences, Engineering, and Communication and Design—Dr. Gaston Labadie, Mario Fernández, and Eduardo Hipogrosso, respectively; the Coordinator of Institutional Relations, Héctor Laca, and the Coordinator of Student Exchange, Miriam Kemna.

June 29, 2009On June 10, a contract was signed at the ORT Centro Auditorium with the National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII), following the approval of funding for the proposals for the Master’s in Engineering (Research Track) and the Master’s in Technology Business Management – ICT Specialization, which were submitted in response to the call for proposals for Support for National Graduate Programs.

It was presented by Alicia Iruretagoyena, an Argentine expert in the field. The event was organized by the School’s Academic Coordination Office for Communication.

June 23, 2009On June 29, the lecture "18 Years of Malos Pensamientos" by Orlando Petinatti took place in the Auditorium of the School of Communication and Design. The creator of the format that revolutionized FM radio through humor celebrated the 18th anniversary, 19 seasons, and more than three thousand episodes of his program Malos Pensamientos. The event was organized by the Academic Coordination of Advertising.

June 22, 2009The poster submitted to the “2nd San Juan Poli/Graphic Triennial: Latin America and the Caribbean” by Santiago Velazco, a graphic design graduate, and Javier Cirioni, a fellow graduate of the same program, was one of six officially selected by the event organizers. The triennial, organized from April 30 to June 7 by the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture, seeks to explore and expand the concept of polygraphics into marginal and experimental creative practices within contemporary art and graphic design.

June 18, 2009From June 24 to 26, the Faculty of Communication and Design hosted the seminar "Ceremonial and Protocol," led by Argentine expert Alicia Iruretagoyena. The event was designed for students taking the Event Planning course as part of the Corporate Communication and Public Relations Analyst and Public Relations and Event Planning Technician programs.

June 15, 2009On June 2, 9, and 16, the seminar "Professional Event Planning in Today's World" was held in the Auditorium of the School of Communication and Design. The seminar was led by Prof. María José Álvez, Regional Director for Latin America atthe International Congress & Convention Association ( ICCA). The seminar was intended for students and graduates of the Technical Programs in Public Relations and Event Management, and the Corporate Communication and Public Relations Analyst Program.

June 12, 2009On June 18, the lecture "Gigante: An XXG Love Story" took place in the Auditorium of the School of Communication and Design. The speaker was Adrián Biniez, the film's director, who discussed the filmmaking process, from the initial concept through post-production.

June 12, 2009On June 18, the lecture "An Introduction to the Analysis of Financial Statements in Uruguay: The CPA Ferrere Financial System Strength Index" was held in the Auditorium of the School of Business and Social Sciences, presented by Certified Public Accountant Bruno Gili, Dr. Fernando Lorenzo, and Economic Analyst Sven Schaffrath. This conference was organized as part of the launch of the Master’s in Accounting and Taxation.

June 12, 2009On June 10, the Faculty of Engineering hosted an informational session titled "Join AIESEC," aimed at students and graduates from all academic programs at the university. During the event, members of this international student exchange organization provided information about opportunities available to young people aged 18 to 27 who are interested in traveling abroad to complete an internship.

June 5, 2009Dr. Norma Pontet, Academic Coordinator of Accounting and Taxation at the School of Business and Social Sciences, is participating in the "11th International Congress on Costs and Management - Resource Management, Sustainability, and Ethics" and the "32nd Argentine Congress of University Professors of Cost Accounting," organized by the School of Economic Sciences at the National University of Patagonia, the International Institute of Cost Accounting, and the Argentine Institute of University Professors of Cost Accounting. She will present the paper "The Allocation of Fixed Costs in Maritime Transport Services." The conferences will take place in Trelew, Patagonia, from September 15 to 18.

June 5, 2009From June 5 to 25, the “Cuentos Chinos” photography exhibition by Guillermo Urrutia, a graduate of the Bachelor’s program in Graphic Design, was held in the Central Hall of ORT Centro. As part of the event, on June 23, Mr. Urrutia led an informal gathering in the ORT Centro Auditorium, where he exchanged views on the exhibition, photography, and travel in general.

The meeting was primarily intended for representatives of the Network’s member organizations, who gathered to discuss matters related to the Network’s objectives and operations.
