It was led by Sergio Riestra, co-founder and board member of the web application Feng Office, and head of international strategy at Fibase, a company that provides technology infrastructure services and consulting.

June 30, 2015The article “Trading off efficiency and reciprocity in wireless peer-to-peer file sharing,” co-authored by faculty members from the School of Engineering, was published in June 2015 in the proceedings of the 13th International Symposium on Modeling and Optimization in Mobile, Ad Hoc, and Wireless Networks. This peer-reviewed conference, organized by the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Control Systems Society, the International Federation for Information Processing, IEEE Xplore, and the IEEE Information Theory Society, took place from May 25 to 29, 2015, in Mumbai, India.

June 30, 2015The article “Optimizing the biological activity of Fab fragments by controlling their molecular orientation and spatial distribution across porous hydrogels,” co-authored by researchers from the Biotechnology Department of the School of Engineering, was accepted for publication on June 16, 2015, in the peer-reviewed journal *Process Biochemistry*, published by Elsevier.

June 30, 2015From May 19 to June 2, 2015, an exhibition of furniture design projects created by students in Workshop 3 and Furniture Design 1 of the Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design will be held at the School of Architecture (2633 España Blvd.).

June 30, 2015On June 26, 2015, the Faculty of Architecture hosted the opening of an exhibition featuring the final projects of students in Architecture Project 1. The projects were completed during the academic year by teams of three students. The theme was “Landscape Enhancer,” a physical element that highlights a notable feature of the landscape. In this case, the site was Roosevelt Park. The exhibition will remain open until July 14, 2015.

June 30, 2015In June 2015, the publisher Palabra Santa released the book *Domestic Violence: Discourse and Reality* by Prof. Teresa Herrera Sormano, a researcher at the School of Communication and Design. The book was co-published by Universidad ORT Uruguay.

June 30, 2015Diego Cazabán, a faculty member in the Biotechnology Department of the School of Engineering and a graduate of the Bachelor’s program in Biotechnology, was awarded the Santander Universities scholarship, which will enable him to undertake a research internship in July and August 2015 in the laboratory of Dr. José Manuel Guisán, a research professor at the Institute of Catalysis and Petrochemistry of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) at the Autonomous University of Madrid.

This peer-reviewed conference took place on June 15 and 16, 2015, in Montevideo.

June 30, 2015On June 18, 2015, the Faculty of Communication and Design hosted the third event in the series “Unfinished Archives: Journalism Under Scrutiny,” in which students in the Bachelor of Communication program reflect on and examine the day-to-day practice of the profession alongside its key figures. The topic discussed at this event was transnational investigative journalism.

June 29, 2015Two projects involving graduates and students from the School of Communication and Design were selected in June 2015 for the 2015 edition of DocMontevideo’s Documentary Pitching event. A total of 13 projects from 11 countries were chosen.

June 29, 2015The Nido project, created by Julián San Martín, a graduate of the Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design program; María Victoria Scola, a student in the program; and Daniel Appel, a former student of the Digital Animation Technician program, and Rosina Secondi, received an Honorable Mention in June 2015 in the Professional category for Desk and Office Furniture at Salão Design Movelsul Brasil 2015, the largest product design competition in Latin America. The awards ceremony and exhibition will take place in August 2015.

June 26, 2015Natalia Cohn, a student in the Bachelor’s Program in International Studies, was selected in June 2015 by the Botín Foundation as Uruguay’s sole representative to participate in the Program for Strengthening the Civil Service in Latin America. Meanwhile, Daniel Vivas, a student in the Public Accounting program, was selected as an alternate candidate. The foundation selected 32 Ibero-American university students with high personal and academic potential and a commitment to public service. This year, more than 5,300 candidates from 353 Latin American universities applied.
