What do you think is the impact of Pereira Rossell Hospital on society?
Pereira Rossell Hospital is a nationally recognized medical center specializing in obstetrics and gynecology, neonatology, pediatrics, and their subspecialties, and is part of the country’s leading public healthcare provider.
We envision it as a center that plays a vital role both in terms of what a health center is, strictly speaking, and from the perspective of society as a whole.
It goes beyond the traditional concept of medical care, encompassing a broader understanding of health. It involves addressing aspects beyond the purely biological and making an impact on various segments of the pediatric and female populations, and that is what drives our day-to-day work objectives across the different departments and divisions operating within the hospital.
In which areas of organizational transformation have you taken the lead?
This medical center is distinguished by the fact that, given its role, it possesses significant strengths from both a technical and academic standpoint, with leading professionals and experts in various fields.
It is known for being at the forefront of defining clinical guidelines, diagnostic procedures, treatment protocols, and the use of new treatments—ranging from new medications to new surgical techniques.
Beyond the technical aspects—which are excellent—we have recently focused on improving the experience of patients visiting the hospital. We strive to make care more patient-centered through a warm, compassionate approach, taking a holistic view of people’s needs rather than focusing solely on practical and technological considerations.
What results have they achieved?
I believe our most important goal has been to foster a sense of pride in belonging. In other words, we want those who work here every day to feel happy to be here and to recognize our shared values. We understand that this is how it’s done: from the inside out, conveying that confidence to our patients and the public.
To what extent do you feel that the EMBA helped you with your management challenges, and why?
It allowed me to become part of a community and build a team with people whose backgrounds and fields of expertise were very different from my own.
In my previous studies, I was surrounded almost exclusively by people from the healthcare field. That wasn’t the case with the EMBA. Being surrounded by people from diverse professional backgrounds is both interesting and enriching. It involves exchanging different ways of thinking about how to approach a problem or situation. It has given me tools I didn’t have before and allowed me to develop soft skills. It was a significant growth experience, both professionally and personally.
