The documentary series “Community Heroes” portrays the life stories of ordinary people who “view solidarity as a duty”—from a former professional soccer player who runs six soup kitchens and teaches the sport to children in a shantytown to a woman who runs a children’s home where she feeds fifty, eighty, or even one hundred twenty children at a time. Co-produced by Uruguayans, “Community Heroes” has just received a Rocky Mountain Emmy for being named the best regional documentary program of human interest.
