    The School of Architecture participated in the "2011 Construction Fair," which took place at the La Rural del Prado Exhibition Center from October 27 to November 1, 2011. It had a booth featuring the winning projects from the first edition of the "Energy-Efficient Housing Competition," which the school organized in partnership with the company Bromyros last March.

    In October 2011, the publishing house Biblos released in Buenos Aires the book *The Dilemmas of State Intervention in the Economy: Administrative Autonomy and Political Control in the Early History of the Banco República (1896–1931)* by Marcos Baudean, a lecturer in Research Methodology and Techniques at the School of Management and Social Sciences.

    On Thursday, October 27, 2011, the launch of the In Situ website took place in the Communication Auditorium, led by the dean of the School of Communication and Design, Eduardo Hipogrosso, the academic coordinator of Journalism, Leonardo Haberkorn, and the professor of Digital Journalism, Daniel Mazzone.

    On Monday, October 24, 2011, the lecture "New Technologies: Green Facades" was held at the ORT Pocitos Auditorium, presented by Architect Yves Besançon, Chair of the Board of Directors at the University of Arts, Sciences, and Communication of Chile (UNIACC). The event was organized by the School of Architecture.

    Pablo Martínez Pessi, who earned a Bachelor’s degree in Audiovisual Communication in 2006, has directing documentaries. Currently, as of October 2011, he is working on a new project: a documentary that recounts the journey of 154 children, the offspring of Uruguayan political exiles, who came from Spain to meet their relatives and see their country in December 1983 (during the last dictatorial government).

    On October 13, 2011, the MBA’s annual dinner was held at the Sheraton Montevideo Hotel. The event was attended by students, graduates from all graduating classes, and faculty members of the graduate program. Speakers included the Dean of the School of Business and Social Sciences, Dr. Gaston Labadie, and Guillermo Pons, a chemical engineer and 2008 graduate.

    The School of Architecture organized the seventh edition of the "Design Your Room" contest, with support from Radio Disney. Fifth- and sixth-year high school students submitted design proposals for their own spaces, with guidance from upper-level interior design students. From all the entries submitted, a jury selected the three best, which were then voted on by the public. The winners are: Alejandro Danon, a student at EIHU - IAHU (1st prize); Pablo Rognone, a student at Liceo No. 1 (2nd prize); and Germán Moreira, a student at Instituto Crandon (3rd prize). The awards ceremony for this contest took place on Monday, October 17.

    Sabrina Bianchi, Course Coordinator at the School of Communication within the Faculty of Communication and Design, participated in the Training Workshop for Coordinators of the Mercosur Mobility Program in Higher Education, which took place in Foz de Iguazú, Paraguay, from October 12 to 16, 2011.

    On Wednesday, October 12, 2011, the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences hosted the lecture "Methods for Estimation in Technology Markets," delivered by Fernando Palop, Director for Spain and Portugal at the Institute for Competitive Intelligence, Associate Professor in the Department of Business Organization at the University of Valencia, and co-founder of the consulting firm Triz XXI. The event was organized by the Academic Coordination of the Master’s Program in ICT Technology Business Management.

    On Tuesday, October 11, 2011, the lecture "Information Exchange under Double Taxation Agreements on Income and Capital (DTA)" was held in the Communication Auditorium. The lecture was presented by Dr. Kess Van Raad, President of the International Tax Center Leiden at Leiden University in the Netherlands. The event was organized by the Graduate School of the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences.

    Prof. Leonardo Haberkorn, Academic Coordinator of Journalism at the School of Communication and Design, received the "2011 Bartolomé Hidalgo Award" in the Political Journalism Essay category for his book *Milicos y Tupas*, published by Fin de Siglo in May 2011. The book tells the story of three key figures in the conflict between the Armed Forces and the Tupamaros National Liberation Movement in the early 1970s: a military officer and two guerrillas.
