The event featured four panels comprising national and international education officials, academics, and members of Latin American comparative education societies. The theme of the meeting was “Convergence and Development of Education in Latin America and the Caribbean: The Role of Comparative Education in the Transformation Agenda.”

Nov. 30, 2015From October 19 to November 6, 2015, the Faculty of Architecture hosted the exhibition “Chairs and Deck Chairs Made of Corrugated Cardboard” by students in the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Interior Design. The exhibition featured works showcasing the results of the design and fabrication of a cardboard chair.

Nov. 30, 2015On November 3, 2015, the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences hosted a lecture titled “Transforming the U.S. Electric Power Industry,” presented by Dr. Robert J. Grey, executive vice president, general counsel, and secretary of PPL Corporation. The speaker reflected on the main characteristics of the U.S. electric power industry and the role that PPL Corporation is playing in the evolution toward a more regulated, diversified, efficient, and measurable utility market.

Nov. 26, 2015On November 23, 2015, 19 design projects were selected—four of which were created by faculty, graduates, and students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design—to participate in the SUM exhibition - Uruguayan Furniture Selection, organized by the Uruguayan Chamber of Design through its Furniture Design Subcommittee with the support of the Spanish Cultural Center (CCE). The exhibition will take place from December 15, 2015, to March 2016 at the CCE.

Nov. 25, 2015On November 16, 2015, works by students, graduates, and faculty members of the Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design were selected for the final round of the 2016 Salão Design Award, a Latin American product design competition held in Bento Gonçalves, Brazil. The awards ceremony will take place on March 16, 2016.

This achievement places the MBA among the top 5% of programs globally in terms of quality. Participants took part in workshops where they developed communication proposals for the Uruguayan band Vi-Em alongside the band members themselves.

Nov. 23, 2015The top three winning teams from the 15th ORT Programming Contest, held in September 2015 as part of the Faculty of Engineering’s Student Day, participated in the South American Regional Finals of the ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) International Programming Contest. The event took place on November 14, 2015, at the University of Buenos Aires. They placed 103rd, 110th, and 213th out of a total of 1,611 participating teams.
