mar 26, 2009On March 9, an informational session on the course “Computer Science Applied to Construction Management” was held at the School of Architecture, led by Engineer Ernesto Brenner. The speaker is a Technical Services Engineer at Saceem, Project Manager for the new headquarters of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in Montevideo, and a professor of Computer Techniques for Construction Management at the faculty.

mar 26, 2009Rosario Bianchi, a graduate of the Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design, won First Prize in the “Images of the Louvre: Six Centuries of European Painting” competition organized by the French Embassy. Meanwhile, Laura Almeida, a student in the program, received an Honorable Mention. For this competition, the Embassy invited all universities and institutions offering Fashion Design programs to participate with a maximum of two students and two graduates, submitting designs inspired by the works of the Louvre Museum.

mar 26, 2009On March 4, the presentation of the book *Silence, Domestic Violence: A Case Study* by journalist Andrés Alsina, a faculty member, took place in the Auditorium of the School of Communication and Design. The panel included Senator Margarita Percovich; Family Court Judge Ana Muñecas of the Third Circuit; and former judge and co-author of the Domestic Violence Law, Ana Lima. Paula Mosca, a member of the Uruguayan Network Against Domestic and Sexual Violence, served as moderator.

mar 12, 2009On March 17, the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences hosted the lecture "The Global Financial Crisis, Ethics, Values, and Management Education," presented by Dr. Dennis Hanno (pictured), Dean of the School of Undergraduate Studies at Babson College in Boston, United States, and Dr. Joseph Ricciardi, Associate Professor of Economics at the same institution. ORT University maintains a cooperation and exchange agreement with Babson College, a world-leading institution in the field of entrepreneurship.

mar 9, 2009The winning blog of the "Contate algo" University Blogging Contest, organized by the Observa website and ORT University, was /a>, written by Kristel Latecki and Ignacio Toledo—students in the Bachelor’s programs in Communication and Systems Engineering, respectively—along with Santiago Lassus. The team won a laptop and the opportunity to publish their blog on Observa for three months. Until March 8, the public could vote among the six blogs selected by the jury.

mar 2, 2009The School of Engineering has launched a two-year Master’s in Engineering by Research, which began on March 23. This graduate program, designed for university professionals in the fields of electronics, telecommunications, or systems, aims to train participants in scientific and technological research through advanced courses designed to place them at the forefront or state-of-the-art of one or more areas of knowledge, and through the development of a thesis.
