  On July 13, 2004, ORT held the inauguration of the Center for Canadian Studies, coordinated by the university’s Academic Development Office.
• Universidad ORT Uruguay in a Debate on Bilateral Trade Between Mexico and Uruguay
  July 31, 2004
  Isidoro Hodara, an economist and academic coordinator of the Graduate Program in International Studies, served as moderator for a discussion on the history of bilateral trade between Mexico and Uruguay.
• Software: An article by Gerardo Maturro, a professor at ORT, was presented at an international conference

  The course "Software Engineering and Applications" featured a presentation on "Knowledge Management and Software Product Lines" by An. Sist. Matturro, a professor of Telecommunications in the School of Engineering.
• The ORT School of Design organized a series of workshops for high school teachers in Montevideo

  From July 26 to August 12, 2004, the School of Design held workshops for art teachers at public and private high schools.
• First graduates of the architecture program

  In July, the first fifteen graduates of ORT’s architecture program—the first cohort of students in the program—received their degrees.

  On July 20, 2004, a videoconference organized by the World Bank was held at the School of Management and Social Sciences.

  On July 22, 2004, the lecture "Teatro Solís: Restoration and Installation of a Copper Roof" was held at the ORT School of Architecture, presented by architect Francisco Collet.
• First graduate of the Ph.D. program in Computer Engineering

  Inés Friss de Kereki became the first graduate of the Doctor of Computer Engineering program, a joint doctoral program between the Polytechnic University of Madrid and Universidad ORT Uruguay.

  The ORT School of Business and Social Sciences launched the series "Twelve Uruguayan SMEs, Twelve Successful Solutions in the Application and Use of Information Technology."
