    The article "Auctions for resource allocations in overlay networks" by Dr. Fernando Paganini, professor of Telecommunications Theory, and Andrés Ferragut, research assistant in the MATE (Applied Mathematics to Telecommunications) at the School of Engineering, co-authored with Pablo Belzarena, director of the Institute of Electrical Engineering at the School of Engineering of the University of the Republic, has been accepted for presentation at "Net-Coop 08," organized by Euro NF - Network of Excellence, which will take place in Paris from September 8 to 10.

    The School of Architecture, with the support of Radio Disney, is organizing the fourth edition of the "Design Your Room" contest, open to 10th and 11th graders.

    From August 27 to September 24, the Faculty of Architecture will host the workshop “Design and Innovation of Sustainable Products,” led by Eduardo Fornasari, M.A., and Raquel Peres, Arch., both faculty members. The workshop will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

    From August 18 to 21, the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences hosted the Workshop on International Finance and Incomplete Markets, led by Dr. Ana Fostel, Assistant Professor of Economics and International Affairs at George Washington University. The event was organized by the faculty’s Department of Economics.

    From August 22 to 29, the exhibition "Cardboard Chair Design" was held in the central hall of the School of Architecture, featuring models of ergonomic chairs created by students in the Interior Design program. The faculty member in charge is Federico Ferreira, an architect and ergonomist who teaches ergonomics at the school.

    From August 7 to 15, the exhibition "Mathematical Models" was held in the main lobby of the School of Architecture. It featured the final projects of students enrolled in the courses "Mathematics 1" for the Architecture program and "Calculus 1" for the Bachelor of Interior Design program. The instructor for both courses is Architect Marcel Perchman.

    Two instructors from the Sports Journalism Technician program at the School of Communication and Design traveled to the Olympic Games in Beijing as part of the Uruguayan Olympic Committee.  Ruben Scarpati, professor of the Water Sports course (Rowing track), served as a rowing coach, and Javier Golovchenko, professor of the Individual Sports 1: Athletics-Swimming course (Swimming track), served as a swimming coach.

    The School of Communication and Design published a collection of the presentations given by faculty members and school administrators at the "5th Conference on Academic Reflection," which took place from December 3 to 5, 2007.

    The article "The Institutionalization of Change in Cost and Management Accounting Systems: A Case Study of the Port Authority of Valencia" by Cra. Norma Pontet, Academic Coordinator of the Master’s Program in Accounting, co-authored with Arturo Giner, Chief Financial Officer of the Port Authority of Valencia (APV), and Vicente Ripoll, Professor at the University of Valencia, was accepted as a concurrent session for the “43rd Annual Assembly of CLADEA” (Latin American Council of Management Schools) organized by the University of the Americas Puebla, which will take place in Puebla, Mexico, from October 22 to 25.
