    In August 2014, CIBSE (Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers) published the article “Tools case study on automatic test case generation,” authored by faculty members from the School of Engineering, which was presented at the “XVII Ibero-American Congress on Software Engineering (CIBSE 2014).” The event, organized by the University of La Frontera (Chile), took place from April 23 to 25, 2014, in Pucón (Chile).

    In August 2014, Editorial Santillana del Pacífico published the book *Access, Retention, and Graduation from University Among Vulnerable Groups in Latin America: Intervening and Changing Reality*. The book’s coordinators are Dr. Joaquín Gairín, Professor in the Department of Applied Pedagogy at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and Visiting Professor in the Master’s Program in Educational Management at the Institute of Education; Prof. Diego Castro Ceacero, Professor in the Department of Applied Pedagogy at the Autonomous University of Barcelona; and Dr. David Rodríguez-Gómez, Instructor in the Master’s Program in Educational Management.

    On June 11, July 8, and August 12, 2014, the "Social Media 360" series took place at the School of Communication and Design. The speakers were Leonardo Loureiro, Commercial Manager at Quanam; Jorge Castrillón Castán, a specialist in communication, culture, and development; and Diego Lev and Raquel Oberlander, General Creative Director and Creative and Digital Director, respectively, at Notable Publicidad.

    Proactive IT Systems, which joined the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) in 2012, was awarded second prize in the “Emprendedores en la Mira” competition, organized by the Support Network for Future Entrepreneurs (RAFE). The awards ceremony took place on August 28, 2014.

    The School of Architecture is organizing the tenth edition of the "Design Your Room" contest, has support of Radio Disney. High school students in their junior and senior years submitted design proposals for their own living spaces by August 14, 2014, with guidance from interior design students and graduates.

    The short film "El Asado," directed by Francisco Hordeñana and produced by Valentina Baracco, students in the Bachelor's Degree in Audiovisual Communication program, received an honorable mention from the jury of the "Piriápolis de Película" international film festival. The event took place from August 15 to 17, 2014, at the Hotel Argentino in Piriápolis. The short film was produced as part of the ORT Digital Program of the School of Communication and Design.

    The article “A Comparison of Saving Rates: Micro Evidence from Ten Latin American Countries” by Dr. Néstor Gandelman, Academic Coordinator of Economics at the School of Management and Social Sciences, was presented at the “29th Annual Economics Conference,” organized by the Central Bank of Uruguay. The conference took place on August 13 and 14, 2014, in Montevideo.

    “The Frozen Man” is director Carolina Campo Lupo’s first feature-length documentary. Filmed in January and February 2013 and completed earlier this year, it had its world premiere at the prestigious Swiss festival Visions du Réel, and is scheduled to be released in Uruguay in April 2015.

    The Ingenio Incubator of LATU (Uruguayan Technology Laboratory), Antel, and Universidad ORT Uruguay the ninth edition of the “National Video Game Competition.” The launch took place on August 27, 2014, in the Idea Vilariño room at the Antel Complex (Telecommunications Tower). The main objective of the event is to encourage the development of high-quality video games in Uruguay.

    The article “Religious participation, trust, and reciprocity: evidence from six Latin American cities,” written by scholars from the School of Management and Social Sciences, was accepted for publication on August 5, 2014, in “The B.E. Journal of Economic Analysis and Policy.” The journal is published by Walter de Gruyter.

    The article “Mechanical properties of loblolly and slash pine timber from Uruguayan plantations,” co-authored by faculty researchers from the School of Architecture, was presented at the “68th Forest Products Society International Convention, World Conference on Timber Engineering.” The event, organized by the Forest Products Society, took place from August 10 to 13, 2014, in Quebec City, Canada.
