mar 28, 2011On March 31, students and faculty from the Bachelor’s Degree in Multimedia Design program organized the “2011 Multimedia Exhibition” at the School of Communication and Design. More than 300 people attended this exhibition of student work, which brought together design, technology, imagery, and sound. The exhibition provided students with an opportunity to experiment and showcase their professional potential.

mar 24, 2011On March 25, the premiere of the feature film "Reus" took place. The film was co-directed by Alejandro Pi and Pablo Fernández Crosa, graduates of the Bachelor's Degree in Audiovisual Communication, alongside Eduardo Piñero. It is an action film set in the neighborhood of the same name.

Research Paper No. 62 from the School of Management and Social Sciences, titled "The Impact of Totalitarianism in the 20th Century," contains a comprehensive study by Mr. Brum on Nazism, Fascism, and Communism, as well as a brief analysis of totalitarianism in the 21st century.

A project under the "Recreación '11" initiative proposes a rebranding of the Hebraica y Maccabi Clubmar 17, 2011A fan of Hebraica and Macabi since childhood, Marcelo Vainsencher believed that the club he loved needed to revamp its image. The 25-year-old student, who recently completed his eighth semester of the Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, combined his knowledge with his passion for sports and channeled them into Recreación 11, a project that brings together design students with companies and institutions. Vainsencher’s work, supervised by Integrative Project instructors Patricia Moizo and Ramiro Ozer Ami, consisted of repositioning the Hebraica y Macabi brand through various graphic and visual initiatives.

It is with this goal in mind that Nicolás Montaner, a 29-year-old recent graduate in Software Engineering (September 2010), is in Washington doing an internship for which he was accepted by the OAS.

mar 16, 2011On Thursday, March 17, a meeting was held at the School of Business and Social Sciences to share information about the "Workshop on International Financial Reporting Standards for SMEs," organized by the World Bank, the IFRS Foundation, and the Association of Certified Public Accountants of Panama in October 2010 in Panama. María Cristina Tolosa, Ph.D., Professor of General Accounting and Financial Statement Analysis at the faculty, attended the workshop on behalf of Universidad ORT Uruguay. At this meeting, she presented the material covered in the workshop to the faculty’s accounting department faculty members.

mar 11, 2011On Wednesday, March 16, the School of Business and Social Sciences hosted a conference titled "Double Taxation Avoidance Treaties: Uruguay–Spain," featuring presentations by Álvaro Romano, Deputy Director General of the General Tax Directorate, and Enrique Ermoglio, Director of the Tax Department at Deloitte. The event took place as part of the "V Annual Latin America International Tax programme," which will be held at Universidad ORT Uruguay June 13 and 14 of this year.

Dr. Pontet was a member of the international panel, where she delivered the lecture "Uruguay and Its More Than 20 Years of Applying International Accounting Standards." The event was organized by Icesi University in Colombia.

The lecture was presented by Gonzalo Frasca, Director and Video Game Designer at Powerful Robot Games and Professor of Video Games at the school. This lecture, held as part of the Bachelor’s Degree in Animation and Video Games, presented attendees with the challenges involved in video game development.
