April 29, 2010On Thursday, April 8, the lecture “GQM+Strategies: A comprehensive methodology for aligning business strategies with software measurement” was held in the Auditorium of the School of Engineering. The lecture was given by Prof. Victor Basili, a faculty member in the Department of Computer Science and a researcher at the Institute for Advanced Study at the University of Maryland. He is a founding member of the International Software Engineering Research Network (ISERN).

April 29, 2010On April 13, the lecture "KNX: Global Standard Technology for Home and Building Automation and Control" was held in the Auditorium of the School of Engineering. It was presented by Martín Ruzo, an engineer and professor at the Montevideo KNX Center, the first accredited training center of its kind in the Americas, and an instructor at the official KNX training center of the Ripollet Electrical Installers Guild in Barcelona.

April 29, 2010Do it Developers, a company led by Mariana Gutiérrez, a telecommunications engineering graduate, now counts Apple among its major clients, to whom it has sold software for the iPhone and iPod Touch that locates places to dance tango in seven countries (Uruguay, Argentina, the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany). In 2008, Gutiérrez presented her project to the pre-incubator at the CIE (Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship), and since the idea was sufficiently developed, the group was referred to the Ingenio business incubator, where Do it Developers has been incubated for the past year.

The lecture was presented by Dr. Clara Rubinstein, head of Scientific Affairs at Monsanto Argentina for the Southern Latin America region. The event was organized by the Biotechnology Coordination Office of the School of Engineering.

The lecture was delivered by Ambassador Cassio Luiselli, Mexico’s Ambassador to the Eastern Republic of Uruguay and Mexico’s Representative to ALADI. The event was organized by the Department of International Studies.

April 1, 2010On April 13, the course "History of Public Parks" began at the School of Architecture, taught by Architect Gonzalo Secco Rodríguez, a tenured professor of construction at the school. The 14-week course is held on Tuesdays from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. It examines the evolution of parks and green spaces from the Renaissance through the 19th century, and their connection to the evolution of architecture and the arts in Europe and the Río de la Plata region.
