    On June 27, 2016, the Faculty of Communication and Design hosted the lecture “Food Design 2016 – Functional Aspects: How Form Follows Function in Food,” presented by Maximiliano Izzi, a lecturer in the Bachelor’s Program in Industrial Design. The speaker discussed the second Food Design initiative at Universidad ORT Uruguay. As part of this event, a photography exhibition featuring works by students in the Industrial Design 3: Production Feasibility course of the bachelor’s program was inaugurated.

    Architect Andrés Eliseo Cabrera, who teaches Bioclimatic Design, Thermal Conditioning, and Workshop 7 at the School of Architecture and serves as project lead for La Casa Uruguaya, delivered a remote presentation titled "Why Not?", at the first meeting of the Ibero-American Network for Social and Sustainable Habitat, held on June 10 and 11, 2016, in Bogotá, Colombia.

    After 16 years of actively promoting entrepreneurship at the university, the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) is embarking on a new phase in which it is consolidating its entrepreneurial ecosystem. Located at the corner of Mercedes and Cuareim, its new 150-square-meter facility was created with a specific goal in mind: to provide a collaborative, modern, and functional environment designed to foster students’ entrepreneurial and innovative spirit. This innovation space was formally inaugurated on June 22, 2016, in the presence of the mayor of Montevideo, Daniel Martínez, the president of the National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII), Fernando Brum, entrepreneurs, and university officials.
