    arXiv.org, an open-access repository of scientific e-prints published by Cornell University Library, published the article “Grover’s search with local and total depolarizing channel errors” in August 2015; the authors include faculty members from the School of Engineering.

    In August 2015, the Institute of Education published the peer-reviewed academic journal *Cuadernos de Investigación Educativa* (Volume 6, Issue 1) online. This issue was indexed by SciELO Uruguay, thereby becoming part of the collection of online scientific journals in the SciELO Network—Scientific Electronic Library Online. It was also integrated into the ORT Uruguay University’s Journal and Publications System on Open Journal Systems (OJS).

    On August 27, 2015, the finalists for the 11th edition of the “Design Your Room” contest were announced. The contest was organized by the School of Architecture with support from Radio Disney. They are: Florencia Estefan, from Colegio Seminario; Juan Pablo Fregosi, from the Instituto Pre Universitario de Montevideo; Maral Nerguizian, from The British Schools; Federico Salvatierra (two selected entries), from Liceo No. 1 in Paysandú; and Caroline Wells, from The British Schools. The three winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on October 1, 2015, at 7:00 p.m. at the faculty (Bvar. España 2633).

    A total of 60 students from universities abroad will be studying for a semester at the university starting in August 2015. They come from universities in Germany, Belgium, Chile, Spain, the United States, Finland, France, Italy, Mexico, and the United Kingdom. Meanwhile, 72 students from the university are studying abroad for a semester. They are participating through student exchange agreements and programmes for international students.

    On August 31, 2015, the Embassy of Korea in Uruguay and Universidad ORT Uruguay the King Sejong Institute Montevideo at the university’s downtown campus, the country’s first center for teaching the Korean language and culture.

    In August 2015, the Education Directorate of the Ministry of Education and Culture declared the development of La Casa Uruguaya—one of the 16 finalist projects in the latest edition of the Solar Decathlon competition, carried out by university faculty and students—to be of educational interest.

    The School of Architecture is organizing the 11th edition of the "Design Your Room" contest, has support of Radio Disney. High school students in their 11th and 12th grades may submit design proposals for their own space by August 13, 2015, at 8:00 p.m., with guidance from interior design students and graduates. The first-place winner will receive a full scholarship to study Architecture or a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, and the two runners-up will receive a 40% scholarship to study one of these programs.

    As of August 2015, Universidad ORT Uruguay the consortium of universities coordinated by the University of Łódź in Poland, which was awarded a grant under the European Union’s Programme to facilitate academic exchanges with that university. The first exchanges are scheduled for the semester beginning in February 2016.

    In August 2015, the School of Architecture published three yearbooks for 2014 on its website: Architecture, Interior Design, and Architectural Drawing.

    Dr. Helena Garbarino, academic coordinator of the Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, was appointed Vice President of Affiliations for LACAIS (Latin American Association for Information Systems) – AIS Chapter (Association for Information Systems). The appointment took place during the election of new chapter representatives at the LACAIS meeting, which was held on August 14, 2015, in Puerto Rico.

    From July 28 to August 4, 2015, the “Nomadic Furniture Design 2015” exhibition was held on the Downtown Campus. It featured furniture prototypes created by students in the Industrial Design 3 – Production Feasibility course of the Bachelor of Industrial Design program, taught by professors Maximiliano Izzi and Pablo D’Angelo. This exhibition was supported by the company MOD – online designer furniture.
