Sept. 29, 2011On September 6, 2011, the ORT Pocitos Auditorium hosted the conference "Technology, Knowledge and Learning," presented by Dr. Richard Noss, Co-Director of the London Knowledge Lab at the University of London, a center for interdisciplinary research and collaboration between learning scientists from the Institute of Education (IOE) and computer scientists from Birkbeck College. The event was organized by the Institute of Education.

Sept. 20, 2011On Monday, September 26, 2011, the lecture "Revisiting Hamlet in the Holodeck" was held in the Communication Auditorium. It was delivered by Dr. Janet Murray, author of the book *Hamlet in the Holodeck: The Future of Narrative in Cyberspace* (Paidós, Barcelona, 1999). The lecture was organized by the Video Games Chair of the School of Communication and Design and the Ingenio incubator at LATU, as part of the 6th National Video Game Competition.

Sept. 16, 2011Since late August 2011, the fourth-semester students in the Bachelor’s Degree in Biotechnology have been the first cohort to take the course “Intellectual and Industrial Property,” taught by attorneys Dr. Agustín Mayer and Dr. Alejandro Alterwain of the Ferrere law firm, both specialists in the field of intellectual property, and professor Carlos Vera, who explains many of the technical and scientific aspects of the legislation.

That is how Paola Fossati, 34, a 2000 graduate of the Interior Design program, recalls her time at the School of Architecture. On August 22, together with a team of professionals, she launched the website Ztuka.com, which brings together information on design, art, and architecture with a wide variety of original content, including interviews, news, opinion forums, and tips.

Sept. 13, 2011Matías Preciozzi, a student in the Software Analyst program, took first place in the Smart Challenge University Edition competition, organized by Genexus. Preciozzi developed a functional app that allows users to identify monuments, buildings, squares, and other points of interest using a smartphone. His prize included an iPad 2, a Genexus Kit, and a paid internship at Artech, where he will be able to further develop his project.

Mr. Hipogrosso spoke on behalf of the university and in his capacity as Vice President of the Interactive Advertising Bureau Uruguay.

Sept. 11, 2011The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) is organizing the workshop “Innovation Systems” as part of the PILA Project (Intellectual Property in Latin America), which will be held online via the PILA Network platform from September 12 to October 12, 2011. Sept. 5, 2011From September 13 to 15, 2011, the "First River Plate Conference on the History of 20th-Century Soccer," organized by the company Tenfield, took place in the Communication Auditorium. The event spanned three days, during which experts and sports journalists gave presentations on the history and development of soccer in Argentina and Uruguay. The event was led by Prof. Leonardo Haberkorn, Academic Coordinator of Journalism at the School of Communication and Design. The conference concluded with the founding of the Association of Researchers and Historians of Uruguayan Soccer (AIHFU).
