  The article “Intra-generational social mobility and entrepreneurship in Uruguay” by Daniel Bukstein, a graduate of the Master’s program in Economics, and Dr. Néstor Gandelman, Academic Coordinator of Economics at the School of Management and Social Sciences, was accepted for publication in the “Latin American Journal of Economics” in August 2013 .
• Article accepted for publication in the journal “Facilities”

  The article “Facilitating change in primary education: the role of existing school facilities in ICT initiatives” by Paula Cardellino, Architect and Research Professor at the School of Architecture, and Dr. Roine Leiringer, Associate Professor in the Department of Real Estate and Construction at the University of Hong Kong, was accepted in August 2013 for publication in the journal “Facilities, ” published by Emerald.
• Conference: "Investment Opportunities in Uruguay: The Logistics Sector"

  On August 1, 2013, the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences hosted the conference “Investment Opportunities in Uruguay: The Logistics Sector” as part of the Public Policy Discussion Series organized by CAF—Development Bank of Latin America—and Universidad ORT Uruguay. The event was broadcast via videoconference to CAF’s headquarters in Caracas (Venezuela). 
• Publication of the research paper "Technical Debt: What Are the Limits of the Metaphor?"

  In August 2013, the School of Engineering published Research Paper No. 10, “Technical Debt: What Are the Limits of the Metaphor?” by Dr. Santiago Matalonga, a Research Professor of Software Engineering at the school, and Alberto Villar and Cecilia Nacimento, students in the Master’s in Engineering (Research Track) program.
• The President of ANCAP Visited the Biotechnology Laboratory

  On August 21, 2013, Ancap President Raúl Sendic and the president’s executive secretary, Daniel Fernández, visited the facilities of the Biotechnology Laboratory at the School of Engineering.
• Teacher's project is a finalist in the "Antel Arena: Architecture Ideas Competition"

  The architectural project submitted by Architect Arturo Silva, a tenured professor of Architecture Projects 5 and 6, along with Héctor Berio Lucas, Lucía Faccio, Paula Fernández, Maximiliano García, Cristina Bonifacino, and Sabrina Sánchez, is one of the five finalists in the “Antel Arena: Architectural Ideas Competition.”
• The coordinator's article was accepted for publication in the journal "Correspondencias & Análisis"

  The article “Academia and Post-Industrial Journalism: From Mass Culture to Demassification and Fragmentation” by Prof. Daniel Mazzone, Academic Coordinator of Journalism at the School of Communication and Design, was accepted in August 2013 for publication in “Correspondencias & Análisis.” The journal is published by the Research Institute of the School of Communication Sciences at the University of San Martín de Porres (Peru).
• An article by the faculty members was accepted for publication in "Computer Networks"

  The article “Overcoming performance pitfalls in rate-diverse high-speed WLANs” by Martín Zubeldía, a research assistant in the MATE (Mathematics Applied to Telecommunications) group at the School of Engineering, Dr. Andrés Ferragut, an associate professor in the Data Networks Division, and Dr. Fernando Paganini, Professor of Telecommunications Theory, was accepted in August 2013 for publication in Computer Networks, published by Elsevier.
• Professor Participates in the Arcusur Accreditation Process for the Padre Sabóia de Medeiros University Center of the Inaciana Educational Foundation

  Álvaro Sánchez, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Data Networks in the School of Engineering, served as a peer reviewer from August 26 to 30, 2013, for the Arcusur accreditation (Regional Accreditation System for University Programs in MERCOSUR) of the Electrical Engineering program at the Centro Universitário da Fundação Educacional Inaciana Padre Sabóia de Medeiros in São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo (Brazil).

  Dr. Gonzalo Frasca, Professor of Video Games at the School of Communication and Design, spoke at “E-commerce Day Montevideo,” which took place on August 21, 2013, at the LATU campus. The event was organized by the Latin American Institute of Electronic Commerce with the support of the Uruguayan Chamber of Information Technology.
