    On August 26, the "Art Direction Workshop" was held at the School of Communication and Design, led by Cristina Nigro, who holds a Bachelor's degree in Set Design from the University of El Salvador in Buenos Aires. The workshop was exclusively for students and graduates of the Bachelor’s Degree in Audiovisual Communication and the Audiovisual Production Technician program, as well as students in the introductory phase of the Bachelor’s Degree in Communication.

    Prof. Gerardo Goldwasser, a faculty member at the School of Communication and Design, will hold an exhibition of his works in August at the Juan Manuel Blanes Municipal Museum. ORT University is supporting this exhibition by printing a catalog of the artist’s works.

    Some people think that everything has already been invented. On the contrary, at the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE), they are always ready to listen to the ideas of students and graduates. Their concept of entrepreneurship motivates them to “develop entrepreneurial individuals who, as a result of their attitude and training, are capable of innovating and starting businesses—which means that the focus is not on the idea but on the person,” emphasized Enrique Topolansky, CIE Coordinator. The projects accepted by the Center “must be dynamic: capable of growth, internationalization, and job creation.”

    The [S]intesís project by Leticia Bermúdez and Denise Latarowski, graduates of the Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, was submitted to the FEDEMA 2010 Furniture Design Competition—4th Edition, which will take place in Formosa, Argentina, from October 6 to 10. The prototype was exhibited at the Maderexpo fair, which took place at the exhibition grounds of the Technological Laboratory of Uruguay (LATU) from August 19 to 22.

    On Wednesday, August 18, the lecture "Marketing and the Point of Sale" was held in the Auditorium of the School of Business and Social Sciences. It was presented by Augusto Richieri, Category Manager for Snacks at Kraft Foods Uruguay.

    From Monday, August 9, to Friday, August 13, an exhibition of the preliminary designs from Workshop 5 of the Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design was held in the central hall of the School of Architecture. The exhibition featured the students’ work from the second assignment of the semester, led by Architect Flavio Morán. The workshop focuses on interior design in highly complex spaces with a high volume of foot traffic and visitor turnover.

    On Tuesday, August 17, the lecture "Middle Management: Its Role and Challenges for the 21st Century" was held in the Auditorium of the School of Business and Social Sciences. The lecture was presented by Enrique Kramer, C.A., Academic Coordinator of Management and Professor of Strategic Management at the school.

    From August 16 to 26, an exhibition of models created by students in the Mathematics 1 and Calculus 1 courses of the Architecture and Interior Design programs was held in the main lobby of the School of Architecture. These models showcase designs of spaces or objects based on quadratic surfaces, generated from equations with two variables.

    The digital journal "Letras Internacionales," published since 2007 by the Department of International Studies of the School of Administration and Social Sciences, celebrated the publication of its 100th issue on August 19. Over the course of these 100 issues, the journal has published more than 350 original articles by academics, specialists, and figures associated with the field of international relations, as well as professionals in the field from both Uruguay and abroad, and students in the Bachelor’s program in International Studies.

    The National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII) approved the ZonaCamping project submitted by Marcelo Kronfeld, a graduate of the Bachelor’s program in Management and Administration and an entrepreneur at the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

    On Thursday, August 19, the Faculty of Communication and Design hosted the lecture "How to Promote Your Personal Image," presented by Alicia Iruretagoyena, an expert in ceremonial and protocol. She also led the seminar "Ceremonial and Protocol" for students in the Corporate Communication and Public Relations Analyst program and the Public Relations and Event Planning Technician program.

    Recreación11 brings together the university and the professional world through the participation of senior students in the Bachelor’s programs in Graphic, Industrial, and Fashion Design. Until August 30, interested companies and organizations had the opportunity to participate in this academic initiative, which produced professional-quality work.

    From August 9 to 19, workshops for the "Yo Propongo" Communication Contest were held at the School of Communication and Design, aimed at 11th and 12th grade students. These workshops provide an opportunity for participants to meet with faculty members who help them develop their proposals.

    On Thursday, August 19, the lecture "Productivity: Where Employers and Employees Both Win" was held in the Pocitos Auditorium. The speaker was León Shocrón, director of the firm Shocrón Benmuyal & Asociados (SB&A) and professor of Management Information Systems in the Master of Business Administration program at the National University of Mar Plata, and Diana Fasce, Head of Consulting Teams at SB&A. The event was organized by the School of Graduate and Executive Studies of the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences.

    From July 25 to August 7, Agustín Napoleone, a graduate of the Systems Engineering program, participated in the Babson Entrepreneurship Workshop held at Babson College in Boston. Banco Santander awarded a grant to the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) to fund this workshop, which was awarded to Mr. Napoleone, one of the directors of Dvelop, a company that was pre-incubated at the CIE and is currently incubated at Ingenio. Additionally, Enrique Topolansky, Coordinator of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Associate Professor of Information Systems in the School of Engineering, will attend the Babson Symposium for Entrepreneurship Educators for Santander Fellows from September 26 to October 4, with a grant from Banco Santander.
