• A paper presented by Dr. Gaston Labadie won the “Best Paper”award at the International Human Resources Management Conference

  The paper “The impact of HRM practices on organizational performance: A model and a test for Uruguay” by Dr. Adriana Cassoni, a researcher and professor of economics in the School of Management and Social Sciences, and Dr. Gaston J. Labadie, dean of the school, won the “Best Paper”award presented by Emerald Group Publishing Limited at the“IHRM (International Human Resources Management) Conference.” The event took place on May 9 and 10, 2013, at The Pennsylvania State University (United States). The paper was presented by Dr. Labadie.
• Winning entry in the PRECITyE Program’s “Single-Lesson Exercise Series Contest”

  The set of exercises submitted by Alejandro Adorjan, assistant academic coordinator of Systems Engineering and a student in the Master’s in Engineering (Research Track) program, and Dr. Inés Kereki, professor of Programming in the School of Engineering, won one of the top prizes in the “Single-Problem Exercise Set Competition” of the PRECITyE Program (Regional Program for Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Engineering). The results of the competition were announced on May 14, 2013.
• A graduate won first prize in the "Innovative Ideas for a Classic Product" contest

  Fernanda Gastaldi, a graduate of the Bachelor’s program in Industrial Design, along with Brazilian industrial designer Gustavo Nosralla, won first prize in the “Innovative Ideas for a Classic Product” competition, organized by the Scuola Politecnica di Design (Milan) and the company IRSAP (Italy).
• A student was selected as a finalist in a competition organized by the University of Manchester

  Ilan Bajarlia, a student in the Bachelor’s program in International Studies who is currently spending a semester abroad at the University of Manchester, was selected as one of eight finalists in a competition in which students were asked to submit ideas for innovating the university library. In the next stage, he will present a pitch at the university museum before a jury and a select audience.
• Graduation short film won the Special Jury Prize at the 7th "Concours de Courts" in France
  May 2, 2013
  The short film “Family Day,” directed by David Blankleider, a graduate of the Bachelor’s program in Audiovisual Communication, received the Special Jury Prize at the 10th edition of the “Concours de Courts, ” which took place from April 6 to 8, 2013, in Toulouse, France. The closing ceremony was held on May 24.
