    Irma Fraile and Eugenia Martínez, sixth-semester students in the Bachelor of Industrial Design program, won second prize in the international "HI-COOKING Castey 2008" competition held in Spain and sponsored by Castey, a manufacturer of cast-iron pots and pans. The theme of the competition was the redesign of a grill. The students submitted three proposals, and the one selected was "Cuisson." The design process was carried out under the guidance and supervision of Industrial Designer Javier Terra, a faculty member of the program.

    José Luis Elizalde, a graduate of the Bachelor’s Program in Graphic Design, won an award in the “Ideas for Entrepreneurship” competition for his project “CIP—Virtual Cinema,” and Sebastián Haro, a graduate of the Bachelor’s Program in Journalism and Communication, for his project “ContenidoWeb.”

    The play "Gatomaquia," written by Prof. Laura Pouso, a faculty member at the School of Communication and Design, received the "Teatro del Mundo" award for best foreign production in Buenos Aires on November 27. This is the first time that the award, which has been presented for the past eleven years by the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), has been given to a Uruguayan production.
