    Pablo Segalerba, a professor in the Taxation Department of the School of Management and Social Sciences, was elected on December 18, 2015, as a member of the Inter-American Technical Commission on Taxation and Fiscal Policy of the Inter-American Accounting Association (2015–2017 term).

    In December 2015, two projects submitted by the Institute of Education were approved for funding under the call for proposals issued by the Education Sector Fund: Digital Inclusion, created by the National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII) and the Ceibal Center Foundation for the Study of Digital Technologies in Education, with support from the British Embassy.

    The GPSGAY app, created by Magdalena Rodríguez, a graduate of the Bachelor of Graphic Design program, and Rosario Monteverde, a graduate of the Systems Engineering program, took first place among the 11 finalists in the first edition of Seedstars World Uruguay, which took place in December 2015 at Sinergia.

    In December 2015, the Graduate School of the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences was recognized as an "Excellent Business School" by the Eduniversal ranking, in the 2015 Official Selection of the 1,000 Best Business Schools.

    Vipermed, a startup supported by the CIE (Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship), won third place on December 9, 2015, in the Emprendo awards presented by the newspaper El Observador. In the 15th edition, it was voted on by the public from among ten startups selected by the newspaper’s Café&Negocios team. The awards ceremony took place at the World Trade Center, attended by prominent figures from the national entrepreneurial ecosystem. Vipermed is led by Ignacio Oliveri, a graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Systems.

    In December 2015, the schools held their annual Teaching Excellence Awards ceremonies. These awards are intended to recognize the quality of instruction provided by faculty members who regularly teach courses, as well as the learning achievements of their students. At each ceremony, the respective dean reviews the year’s achievements and presents the awards to the winning faculty members, who have demonstrated outstanding performance during the year and have an exceptional academic record within the faculty. The university has been presenting these awards since 1995.

    La Casa Uruguaya, designed by students and faculty from all of the university’s schools, won first prize on December 15, 2015, in the 2015 Solar Decathlon Latin America and the Caribbean international competition, the world’s most important sustainable architecture competition. The goal of this competition was to provide solutions to a recurring problem throughout Latin America: the need for housing for low-income sectors that incorporates the use of clean and renewable energy, thereby contributing to environmental preservation.
