June 30, 2015Diego Cazabán, a faculty member in the Biotechnology Department of the School of Engineering and a graduate of the Bachelor’s program in Biotechnology, was awarded the Santander Universities scholarship, which will enable him to undertake a research internship in July and August 2015 in the laboratory of Dr. José Manuel Guisán, a research professor at the Institute of Catalysis and Petrochemistry of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) at the Autonomous University of Madrid.

June 29, 2015Two projects involving graduates and students from the School of Communication and Design were selected in June 2015 for the 2015 edition of DocMontevideo’s Documentary Pitching event. A total of 13 projects from 11 countries were chosen.

June 29, 2015The Nido project, created by Julián San Martín, a graduate of the Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design program; María Victoria Scola, a student in the program; and Daniel Appel, a former student of the Digital Animation Technician program, and Rosina Secondi, received an Honorable Mention in June 2015 in the Professional category for Desk and Office Furniture at Salão Design Movelsul Brasil 2015, the largest product design competition in Latin America. The awards ceremony and exhibition will take place in August 2015.

June 26, 2015Natalia Cohn, a student in the Bachelor’s Program in International Studies, was selected in June 2015 by the Botín Foundation as Uruguay’s sole representative to participate in the Program for Strengthening the Civil Service in Latin America. Meanwhile, Daniel Vivas, a student in the Public Accounting program, was selected as an alternate candidate. The foundation selected 32 Ibero-American university students with high personal and academic potential and a commitment to public service. This year, more than 5,300 candidates from 353 Latin American universities applied.

June 2, 2015For the 20th consecutive year, the School of Business and Social Sciences was the only Uruguayan business school ranked among the best in Latin America in the annual ranking published by América Economía magazine. In the 2015 edition, the school was ranked 21st.
