    The companies HPS Gaming, Kizanaro, and Paganza were honored on October 24, 2013, at the "NOVA Awards," which recognize companies that, through their innovative capabilities, contribute to improving the quality of life and economic progress in the country.

    Manuel Bravo, a student in the Bachelor’s program in Systems Engineering, along with Matías López, Santiago Rosa, and Christian Zurbrigg—students in the Software Analyst program at the CTC Center in Colonia—and Lucas Díaz, a student at Liceo Departamental No. 1 in Colonia, were the winners of the “IEEE SEK” (Standard Education Kits) category in the Latin American “XII LARC Latin American Robotics Competition.” The event took place from October 21 to 27, 2013, in Arequipa, Peru.

    Cecilia Lourdes González, a student in the Bachelor of Fashion Design program, was selected in October 2013 as one of the five finalists in the Lúmina 8 competition.

    The project “Your Parents Will Return,” directed by Pablo Martínez Pessi, a graduate of the Bachelor’s program in Audiovisual Communication, won the “FONA 2013” award in the “documentary” category. The winners were announced on October 25, 2013.

    The Truly.am app, created by Dayana Jabif and Agustín Haller, graduates of the Systems Engineering program, was recognized as one of the top entries at “Disrupt Hackathon, an event organized by the technology website TechCrunch in Berlin, Germany. Starting on October 26, 2013, the graduates had 24 hours to design and program their app. They then presented a one-minute demo of it to the jury and a large audience.

    The Graduate School of the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences was recognized as an "Excellent Business School" in the "2013 Ranking of the Best 1,000 Business Schools in 154 Countries," announced at the "5th Eduniversal World Convention 2013," which took place from October 9 to 12, 2013, in Bangalore, India.

    Writer Ana Solari, a professor in the Writing Department of the School of Communication and Design, served on the jury for the “La Plata Latin American Film Festival.” The event took place from September 28 to October 5, 2013, in the city of La Plata, Argentina.

    The proposal submitted by the Institute of Education for the consultancy project titled "Study on Prospects for Improving Learning Opportunities for Children, Adolescents, and Young People in Latin America" was selected by UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund) in response to a call for proposals issued in August 2013. The project is being carried out between October 2013 and February 2014.

    From September 25 to October 7, 2013, the Faculty of Architecture hosted an exhibition on the “Parada 17 Ideas Competition,” in which students enrolled in the Architecture Project 10 course participated. This competition, organized by the WSW (Weiss Sztryk Weiss) architectural firm, consisted of the presentation of preliminary designs for residential complexes in Punta del Este along the Dr. Claudio Williman coastal promenade, near Stop 17, on land owned by WSW. First prize went to Patricia Abella and Josefina Carrau, architecture students, for their project “A.C.M.E.”
